Iran International reported that Iran said it struck US-linked targets in five regional countries on Sunday, including US naval logistics facilities at Duqm in Oman. The claim came after US attacks earlier in the week, while Oman’s Maritime Security Center said rescue teams saved 23 crew members from the GFS Galaxy and kept searching for one missing crew member.
Duqm in Oman
Tasnim news agency said Iranian forces hit targets in Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman in response to US attacks. The Revolutionary Guards said the strike on Duqm included naval logistics facilities and aircraft carrier refueling platforms at the Omani port.
US Central Command said on Saturday its forces carried out a third round of strikes against Iran this week after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps allegedly attacked the M/V GFS Galaxy, a Cyprus-flagged container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz. That sequence places the maritime incident and the regional strike claim on the same escalation track.
Gulf Cooperation Council response
Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi condemned continued Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan. Albudaiwi said the attacks violated international law, the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and undermined maritime security and freedom of navigation.
The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Oman with missiles and drones. The UAE Foreign Ministry called the attacks a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the five countries and a threat to their security and stability.
Qatar and the GFS Galaxy
Qatar condemned renewed Iranian attacks on its territory and Arab countries on Sunday. Qatar said the attacks on Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait breached the UN Charter and the principles of good neighborly relations, and said Iran bore full legal responsibility for the attacks and their consequences.
Qatar also reserved its right to respond under international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter. That legal position matters because it keeps the response channel open while the crew search continues off the coast of Musandam, where rescue teams had already saved 23 crew members from the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy.
One crew member remained missing as teams searched the area 4.4 nautical miles from the coast of Musandam. For shipping and maritime security across the Strait of Hormuz, the immediate question is whether the reported strikes at Duqm and the wider regional claims turn into further damage at sea.
