South Bend Police Department said Carlito Chism and Carrie Crawford were the focus of a search after the 8-year-old was reported missing. Carlito Chism was later located and is safe, which ended the immediate search for the child.
Police said Carlito Chism was last seen around 11:30 a.m. on July 12 in the 1000 block of Lincoln Way West. He is a black male, five feet tall and 65 pounds, with black dreads with gold tips, brown eyes, and he was last seen wearing a colorful shirt with khaki shorts.

The search centered on Carlito Chism and his mother, Carrie Crawford, after police said the child was believed to be in danger. Police also said Crawford was believed to be armed and dangerous.
The department asked anyone with information about Carlito Chism to call 574-235-9201 or 911. Police also said that if anyone sees Carlito Chism or Carrie Crawford, they should not approach and should call 911 and reference the post.
