The Palworld update brought the game to 1.0 after 2.5 years in Early Access, and it pulled 725,000 concurrent players on Steam this weekend. Pocketpair says that surge was far above its expectations, but it does not cleanly map to 725,000 new purchases.
That matters because the studio said many players kept their original copies of the game, and Palworld is not a live service game. The launch therefore looks less like a fresh audience wipeout and more like a large return visit from players who were already there.
Palworld and Steam
Pocketpair said Palworld was doing 35,000 nightly players before jumping to 700,000. The move from that baseline to the launch-weekend peak shows how sharply attention can return when a long Early Access project reaches 1.0.
The game also reached 2.1 million concurrent players on Steam shortly after launch, so the new peak does not set a record for the series. It does place Palworld's second launch inside the top 15 of Steam launch concurrent peaks ever.
Pocketpair's 1.0 patch
Palworld's 1.0 version adds its biggest patch in history for the launch. That means the weekend spike came alongside a substantial content and systems change, not just a version-number bump.
Pocketpair has not raised the price of 1.0. For players deciding whether to return now or wait, that leaves the main question on the table: how much of the 725,000-player surge came from returning owners versus fresh sales of Palworld 1.0.
