Greater Anglia is running only a reduced number of trains via Stratford Station after a fire next to the tracks on Friday badly damaged signalling equipment there. Some platforms remain closed, and cancellations and alterations are set to continue until further notice.
The disruption affects services to and from London Liverpool Street, Colchester Town, Southend Victoria, Stratford and Bishops Stortford, Meridian Water, Ipswich, Clacton-on-Sea and Braintree. Passengers using those routes are dealing with shorter service patterns, changed trains and some cancellations rather than the normal timetable.
Network Rail repairs at Stratford
Network Rail engineers are working to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore the signalling equipment. At Stratford, that means the station is still operating with restrictions in place while crews deal with the damage left by the fire.
The service pattern has already changed for some journeys. Trains between Stratford and Tottenham Hale will start and stop at Lea Bridge on Wednesday, July 15, and passengers cannot use the train between Lea Bridge and Stratford. London Buses can be used between Lea Bridge and Stratford.
Routes via Liverpool Street
Other changes affect passengers heading to or from Ipswich, Clacton-on-Sea, Colchester Town, Braintree and Southend Victoria, where services will run less frequently. Reduced Greater Anglia services also mean some trains between Tottenham Hale and Stratford should go on the first available train to Liverpool Street and change there for trains to Stratford or Tottenham Hale.
Passengers travelling to or from Liverpool Street via Shenfield and Stratford are being told to check before travelling because some services may be cancelled or altered at short notice. That leaves the practical question at Stratford simple enough for now: the line is open in parts, but not on the normal pattern, and the station remains under restrictions while repairs continue.
