Plymouth Argyle took a 2-0 lead into half-time against Bath City in their second pre-season game at Twerton Park on an afternoon in July, with Owen Oseni and Michael Baidoo finding the net before the break.
Oseni opened the scoring in the 40th minute, before Baidoo added a second five minutes later to give Argyle a strong position at half-time. The match is another step in Plymouth Argyle's build-up to the 2026/27 League One campaign.
Early signs of progress
Argyle arrived at Twerton Park after beating Plymouth Parkway 4-1 away in their first warm-up match last Saturday. That result already gave them a useful starting point, and this first-half display suggested the squad is continuing to settle into the rhythm of pre-season.
The game also comes against a Bath City side that had already been in action this month. Bath City lost 2-0 to Cardiff City under-21s at Twerton Park on Tuesday night, and the week before that they beat Larkhall Athletic 3-1 away.
For Plymouth Argyle, the match was also a chance to involve players who were missing from the earlier warm-up game and could get their first pre-season action here. That sort of rotation is a normal part of this stage of the schedule, but it can still matter for building fitness, sharpness and competition for places.
At this point in the summer, the scoreline is only one part of the picture. The more important takeaway for Argyle is that the goals came from players pushing to establish themselves, while the team continued to build momentum ahead of the new League One campaign.
