A round at Golden Eagle Golf Club in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, took an unexpected turn when a bear stole a player’s golf bag from a cart and turned the moment into a viral video with millions of views.
The golfers were teeing off on the 12th hole when the bear came out of the bush and approached their cart. From there, the animal took the golf bag, tried to open it with its teeth, dragged it across the course and eventually wandered off.
What happened on the course
The incident was unusual, but it was not framed as a serious wildlife attack. Instead, it became the kind of clip that spread quickly online because of how unexpected it was to see a bear grab a golf bag and make off with it.
Black bears are curious animals, and they may investigate objects that carry food odors. In a setting like a golf course, that can be enough to draw a bear toward a cart or bag.
What golfers should do around bears
The basic advice is simple: keep your distance and let the bear move along on its own. Approaching the animal or trying to take items back right away is not the safe move.
In this case, the bear’s visit was more strange than dangerous, but the video is a reminder that wildlife can show up without warning, even in the middle of a normal day on the course.
