UFC 330 is scheduled for August 15, 2026, at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the main event gives Islam Makhachev a chance to add another major line to his résumé.
Makhachev will defend his UFC welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry, a matchup that puts the champion in a spot with both immediate stakes and historical context. The card also marks UFC's return to Philadelphia after the promotion last held an event there in 2019.
What the title fight means
Makhachev enters the fight at 28-1 and on a 16-fight winning streak. That streak is the bigger storyline beyond the title itself, because he is now chasing Anderson Silva's UFC record of 16 consecutive wins. A victory in Philadelphia would give him a share of that mark and keep the conversation around his place in UFC history moving forward.
The matchup also brings back some familiar history for Makhachev. In 2015, he lost to Adriano Martins by knockout at UFC 192, and that remains the lone loss on his record.
A first title shot for Ian Machado Garry
For Garry, the opportunity is as significant as the opponent. He becomes the first Irish fighter to challenge for a UFC belt since Conor McGregor, and it is his first UFC title fight. That alone makes the bout a notable moment for Ireland's presence at the top of the UFC card.
Garry joined the UFC in 2021 after winning the welterweight belt in Cage Warriors, and he has continued to climb since then. In November, he beat former 170lbs champion Belal Muhammad, a result that strengthened his case for a championship opportunity.
The fight is listed with Makhachev as the favorite at -360 and Garry at +280, which reflects both the champion's standing and the size of the task in front of the challenger. Still, title fights often turn on timing, composure and whether the underdog can force the champion into a new kind of night.
UFC 330 gives both men that chance, with Philadelphia set to host a title fight that could shape the conversation around the division and around Makhachev's broader legacy.
