Facebook errors and white screens
On Facebook, accounts were described as temporarily unavailable because of a site error. That points to a fault inside the service rather than a problem on one device. For affected users, the practical result was being locked out or pushed into a blank screen instead of a usable app.
On Instagram, reports focused on core functions that people expect to work immediately. Reels stayed stuck or would not play. New photos and posts did not appear. Pulling down the screen to refresh the feed also failed to update anything.
Instagram feeds would not refresh
Some users saw only old content that had already been stored on the device. Others opened the app and got a completely white screen with no error message. Closing the app, switching networks, and restarting devices did not clear the problem for those users.
The mixed pattern is the most important clue in the outage. It affected thousands around the world, but not every account at the same time. That is why some people could keep scrolling while others were locked out of live content and account access.

There was no official confirmation that the disruption came from Meta's shared systems. It also was not yet clear whether Messenger, Threads, or WhatsApp were affected.
Meta had not released a statement explaining the source or scope of the outage. Users seeing a white screen or a feed that would not refresh were advised to close the app, reopen it, check for an updated version, and wait for service to return, while avoiding password changes, account deletion, or repeated reinstalls.
