A 17-year-old boy died after the Luton stabbing at Kingsway Recreation Ground in Luton on Friday evening, Bedfordshire Police said. Officers were called shortly after 6.30pm after reports of disorder, and the boy was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds before dying a short time later.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardener said, "Horrific violence in Luton has sadly cost a teenage boy his life today." He added, "I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has any information, to come forward and speak to police to help us bring those responsible to justice."

Gardener also warned against passing on video online. He said, "We are aware that images and videos are circulating on social media. Please refrain from sharing any such footage and instead contact police. Not only is this material distressing for the family, but it could also form part of vital evidence in our investigation."
Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have launched a murder investigation and are asking witnesses and anyone with information to come forward. Police said there is an increased presence in the area and that high visibility patrols will continue.
Kingsway Recreation Ground in Luton
Police said a number of teenagers were seen carrying large knives at Kingsway Recreation Ground. The victim has not yet been formally identified, and specially trained officers are supporting his family.
The case also has a second strand. One teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and questioned in police custody, while a second teenager arrested on the same suspicion remains in hospital with serious injuries.
What happened before and during the stabbing is still the part police need witnesses to fill in. Anyone with information, or with images that have not been shared, is being asked to pass them directly to Bedfordshire Police rather than circulate them further.
