The British Touring Car Championship will remain free-to-air in the UK until the end of 2029 after ITV agreed a new broadcasting deal with the series.
The extension means BTCC coverage will not move behind a Sky TV subscription barrier over the next three seasons, preserving a long-running arrangement that has been in place since 2002. ITV Sport will continue to provide coverage across ITV, ITVX, ITV4, ITV YouTube and the BTCC YouTube channel, with the agreement covering 2027 to 2029.
A long-running partnership continues
Niall Sloane said the deal continues ITV’s commitment to broadcast the best BTCC action free-to-air for UK viewers. He also noted that the partnership spans nearly three decades and will keep delivering a broad package of coverage across ITV, ITVX and YouTube.
Alan Gow, the BTCC chief executive, said he was extremely pleased and proud to finalise the new contract with the ITV Network. He said the agreement extends the championship’s broadcast partnership into an incredible 27th year and underlines his commitment to keeping the BTCC as freely accessible as possible rather than hidden behind a paywall.
What the deal means for fans
For UK fans, the key takeaway is simple: BTCC remains easy to watch on free-to-air television and related digital platforms for at least three more seasons. ITV Sport’s coverage also includes live race-day programming that was introduced in 2025 and continued worldwide via the BTCC YouTube channel.
Last year also brought a change in presentation, with Steve Rider retiring and Nicki Shields taking his place. North America has separate live broadcast agreements, so the ITV deal is focused on UK access. For viewers in Britain, the renewal keeps one of the country’s most established motorsport championships widely available through 2029.
