BILD reported that 14 people were injured. The event stopped a few minutes after the incident, and the large screen at the Brandenburg Gate displayed the word “Evakuierung” in signal colors.
Lennéstraße and the evacuation
The incident happened at Lennéstraße in Berlin, where a vehicle was said to have driven into people at high speed. Witnesses said a man got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, while police searched for possible suspects after the incident.
The organizers asked people to avoid the Siegessäule and the Tiergarten and to leave the area toward the Hauptbahnhof. That instruction gave attendees a clear route away from the scene as emergency crews moved in.
Emergency response near Tiergarten
A mass-casualty alert was triggered at the dispatch center shortly after the crash. Initially 44 emergency responders were on site, and several paramedics and emergency doctors went to the scene.
