Cincinnati police said a storm with an Asheville tornado warning knocked a large tree onto power lines in Clifton on Monday night, leaving about 25 residents on Greendale Avenue without power. The same tree hit a home across the street, and police blocked Greendale Avenue at its entrance from Clifton Avenue.
Police reported no injuries. Drivers were told to enter the road from the opposite direction while the block remained closed, and the damaged home had several windows broken with debris left on the roof.

The outage on Greendale Avenue sat inside a wider storm disruption that reached about 15,000 power outages across the region. Early Tuesday, the total had dropped to 4,173, then stood at 3,541 as Duke Energy kept tracking the system.
Most of the remaining outages were customers in Hamilton and Clermont counties. For the people on Greendale Avenue, the practical change was simple: the street had damage, the power was out, and the restoration clock was still running without a firm time attached.
Duke Energy repairs in Hamilton and Clermont
Duke Energy said repairs and damage assessments were underway. That puts crews on two tracks at once: clearing the physical damage around the line strike and checking the wider network that fed the outage count across Hamilton and Clermont counties.
The storm’s impact was not limited to the utility line itself. A tree landing on a home across the street broke windows and left debris on the roof, while the blockage on Greendale Avenue pushed traffic to approach from the other direction.

By Tuesday, the numbers had already moved from a regional peak of about 15,000 outages to 3,541. That left Greendale Avenue among the spots still waiting on repairs, with no set restoration time given for the homes that lost service overnight.
