Lapam Confartigianato met in Castellarano with Fabio Braglia and Giorgio Zanni to push Modena road issues onto a shared table. The first working meeting focused on congestion, infrastructure and the routes that carry the heaviest loads through the area.
Recent studies cited at the meeting put more than 50,000 vehicles a day on the Modena-Sassuolo road, including more than 10,000 heavy vehicles. They also counted more than 33,000 vehicles a day on the Pedemontana and about 23,000 on the Sassuolo-Castellarano road.
Castellarano meeting
The meeting brought together a delegation of Lapam Confartigianato leaders and the presidents of the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It was the first step in a shared process that will later involve the mayors of the municipalities in the area, with road infrastructure and the district network at the center of the discussion.
Fabio Braglia and Giorgio Zanni were asked to look beyond single stretches of road and toward the connections that tie the area together. The group shared the need for the third bridge, the Cispadana and the Bretella Campogalliano-Sassuolo, while also pointing to peak-hour congestion at the junctions with the SP467R and Via Radici.
Strada Provinciale 486R work
The Strada Provinciale 486R was described as a strategic axis that crosses administrative boundaries. Maintenance and resurfacing work on that road should be intensified and carried out mainly at night, while work is already underway on the tunnel on the Reggio Emilia side and on the Cerredolo-Ponte Dolo stretch on the Modena side.
A bottleneck between Castellarano and Sassuolo remains a priority issue on the 486R. Lapam Confartigianato and the institutional representatives linked the fix to either a widening of the Pedemontana or the construction of a third bridge.
Rossi and the next step
Carlo Alberto Rossi said the association wants businesses to work in the best possible conditions. He thanked the two provincial presidents for their availability and said services, infrastructure and connections are strategic key points for the area.
He added: "Ringraziamo i due Presidenti delle nostre province di competenza per la disponibilità" and "Una delle mission della nostra associazione, forse la più importante, è quella di confrontarsi con gli amministratori per fare sì che le nostre imprese possano lavorare nelle migliori condizioni possibili, così da generare un flusso positivo anche nel territorio in cui operano, a beneficio di tutta la comunità." The permanent working table will be started and formalized with the two provincial presidents, giving the discussion a fixed channel instead of a one-off meeting.
