Will there be another Spider-Man movie after Tom Holland? Holland says there is a whole plan for passing the role to another actor, and he says it has been taking shape since Spider-Man: No Way Home ended. For now, he is still in the Spidey suit one more time for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Holland said on Happy Sad Confused. He added, “It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”
That is the practical answer for anyone tracking the future of Spider-Man movies: Holland is not treating the role like a closed chapter. He is treating it like a handoff, with a framework already in motion rather than a scramble after the fact.
Brand New Day and the handoff
“That is the thing I want to do most in this character, for sure,” Holland said, adding to Empire that he would love to help set up the next chapter for whoever is next. “For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter.”
He also said, “Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset.” That puts Robert Downey Jr. in the frame as Holland’s model for passing along a major superhero role without pretending the transition is simple.
On the same trajectory, Holland told Esquire UK that “Owen Cooper would be awesome. Obviously, he’s super-talented and the talk of the town right now.” He did not lock in a successor, but the name gives the succession talk a real-world edge instead of keeping it abstract.
2016 to 2021 run
Holland first appeared as Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, then Sony Pictures released Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. He later reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.
He also said Spider-Noir came out a few weeks ago, which reinforces how many Spider-Man lanes are moving at once. For the MCU, that means the role is no longer being discussed as a single-run franchise anchor; it is being discussed as a managed transition with one actor still in place while another may be prepared behind him.
The clearest near-term answer is that Holland is still wearing the suit for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the longer answer is that he has already laid groundwork for a successor. The only part not set is who actually takes the web-slinging next, and Holland’s own comments show he wants to help shape that handoff rather than watch it happen from the side.
