Lollapalooza live stream coverage opened Thursday at Grant Park in Chicago, and officials moved to keep weather shelters ready ahead of possible rain this weekend. The festival is proceeding while the safety plan is already in place.
Frank Velez, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications executive director, said, "Safety remains our top priority and participants are urged to be familiar with the surrounding area and to heed all warnings." He also said the Office of Emergency Management and Communications works closely with the Chicago Police Department, the Chicago Fire Department, the Chicago Park District and C3 Presents to plan well in advance of the popular event to ensure the safety of performers, music fans and residents.
Grant Park shelter access
Three evacuation shelter sites are set in Grant Park North, Grant Park South and Millennium Lakeside Garages. Attendees can reach them through the vehicle entrance on Michigan Avenue, a detail that turns the shelter plan into something usable, not just advisory language.
The setup gives festivalgoers a clear fallback if weather tightens during the weekend run. For a live event with changing conditions, that access point is the practical instruction that matters most.
Festival rules at Grant Park
The bag policy is strict enough to shape what people can carry before they even reach the grounds. Small clutch purses and fanny packs that are 6" x 9" or smaller are allowed, while other bags larger than 6" x 9" must be smaller than 12" x 6" x 12" and clear.
Hydration packs are allowed, but they do not need to be clear. They must be emptied of all liquid and have no more than two total pockets. Aerosol containers, including sunscreen and personal beauty products, blankets, sheets and towels, coolers, Frisbees, outside food or beverage including alcohol, umbrellas, drones or any other remote flying device, and pets except service animals are prohibited.
XCX, XX and eight headliners
This year's 8 headliners include Charlie XCX, Tate McRae, Lorde, Olivia Dean, John Summit, Jennie, The Smashing Pumpkins and The XX. That lineup keeps the focus on the festival's core draw while the weather plan handles the less glamorous part of the weekend.
All Chicago parks prohibit smoking of any kind, including vaping, and no video recording will be allowed.
