The girl suffered the episode at about 02:15 BST and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed and specialist officers are supporting them.

Cumbria Police said it particularly wants to hear from a group of women who alerted first responders after becoming concerned for the teenager's welfare. Police are seeking people who were in the area around the time of her death, which narrows the enquiry to a specific place and time inside the festival.

A Kendal Calling spokesperson said the festival team is supporting authorities with their investigation. The spokesperson said the individual was immediately attended to by on-site security and medical teams after becoming unwell.

Paramedics and medical personnel provided emergency care at the scene and did everything they could to help, the spokesperson said, but the teenager still died there. For anyone who saw what happened near the Calling Out tent or the Big Wheel, police are asking that they come forward because the account from that window may be central to establishing how the episode unfolded.
