The early margin gave Ehlmann the clearest edge in the county executive race as the night began. Jason Law, another candidate in the race, talked to a supporter during his watch party at the Lake Forest Country Club in Lake Saint Louis.

Ehlmann’s own ballot was part of the same Tuesday morning turnout he was asking voters to join. He cast it at St. Charles West High School, then later returned to watch the early numbers with supporters at Tubby’s Hall.
The race centered on whether he could extend his time in office to a sixth term, and the early tally put him in the strongest position among the four candidates referenced in the race. For voters, the immediate read was simple: the incumbent had the lead, but the result on Aug. 4, 2026 was still only an early one.
