1999 is the anchor point here: Fehr and O'Connor were introduced in The Mummy, and Fehr later reprised Ardeth Bay in The Mummy Returns in 2001. Bringing him back again gives The Mummy 4 a direct line to the franchise’s original cast, which is exactly the kind of continuity that keeps a legacy sequel from feeling generic.
Kevin J. O'Connor is back too, after playing Beni Gabor in the earlier films. Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah are also returning, while Michael Johnston joins the cast as a new addition. That mix tells the industry what kind of sequel this is: not a reset, but a continuation built around recognizable franchise DNA and one new arrival.
Numan Acar Joins the Cast
Numan Acar has inked a deal to join The Mummy, adding a fresh face to the ensemble before cameras are expected to matter more than speculation. He first drew attention with American audiences as Hassaim Haqqani on Homeland, and has also appeared on Young Sherlock and Legends, so his addition gives the film another actor with franchise and genre experience.
The new film’s plot is being kept under wraps even as multiple cast members and returning franchise veterans have been announced. That creates a useful pressure point for Universal Pictures: the studio can sell continuity now, but it still has to reveal how these characters fit once the film starts talking in specifics. That lineup makes the movie look less like a one-off revival and more like a controlled franchise handoff. Fehr’s return as Ardeth Bay gives the project its clearest legacy hook, and Acar’s arrival suggests Universal Pictures is still building around that core rather than replacing it.
