XYZ stock heads into Block’s second-quarter 2026 report on Aug. 5 after market close with Wall Street looking for 86 cents per share on $6.54 billion in revenue. Investors in Block are waiting to see whether the numbers line up with the company’s targets and whether the quarter keeps the recent earnings trend moving in the right direction.
Block’s Aug. 5 report
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for second-quarter 2026 EPS has held steady over the past 30 days, and the revenue mark points to a 7.96% year-over-year rally. That leaves Block with a clear bar when it posts results after market close: 86 cents per share and $6.54 billion in revenue, both of which now sit at the center of the market’s read on the quarter.
Block also heads into the release with a mixed recent pattern behind it. Over the trailing four quarters, EPS beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate on two occasions, met it in another quarter and missed it in one quarter, while the average beat was 3.51%.
Cash App and Square targets
Management has set its own benchmark for the quarter. Block is targeting gross profit of $3.04 billion, which points to a 20% year-over-year jump, along with adjusted operating income of $740 million and adjusted EPS of 86 cents. Those targets put the company’s operating mix under a sharper lens than the headline estimate alone, especially with Cash App and Square still doing the heavy lifting inside the business.
For the full year, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for Block’s 2026 EPS stands at $3.90, a 64.56% expansion from the year-ago period’s actual. The 2026 revenue estimate is $26.14 million, up 8.05% year over year, so the quarter will feed directly into how investors read the larger setup for the rest of the year.
Bitcoin and GAAP pressure
There is still a complication in the quarter’s setup. Block preliminarily expects $1.8 billion in Cash App Bitcoin Ecosystem revenues, but it also expects an $88.5 million remeasurement loss on its Bitcoin investment, a hit that could have hurt GAAP earnings even if the adjusted figures hold up. That split is why the market will likely watch both the operating targets and the GAAP result before making a clean judgment on the quarter.
Block enters the report with an Earnings ESP of 0.00% and a Zacks Rank #3, a combination that leaves investors with the same basic question when the numbers land on Aug. 5: whether the company can actually clear the 86-cent bar it has set for itself and the market has already priced in.
