Wigan Athletic have added Archie Harris on a two-year deal, bringing the 21-year-old defender in from Bournemouth after his progress was tracked through a loan spell at Eastleigh and a pre-season trial with Gary Caldwell's side.
The move gives Wigan a player who already has senior football behind him, with Harris having made 41 league appearances for Eastleigh in the National League last season. For a defender still only 21, that is a useful level of experience, and it helps explain why Wigan have moved to secure him permanently on an undisclosed fee.

Harris arrives at Wigan as a Wales Under-21 international who has already had to adapt to different environments. He spent last season on loan at Eastleigh, then featured for Wigan this pre-season as a trialist before the club decided to complete the signing.
