Woking have added two loan signings in one move, bringing back Steven Turner from Ipswich on a season-long deal and recruiting Jaiden Putman from Queens Park Rangers on a short-term loan.
It is a useful piece of squad management for Woking, who get help for both the long term and the short term. Turner is returning after a brief spell that ended with six appearances in the 2025-2026 campaign, while Putman arrives as injury cover after making 25 appearances across senior football with Queens Park Rangers and Bath City.
Turner back after impressing in April
Turner is no stranger to Kingfield. He previously spent time on loan with Woking in April and made enough of an impression for the club to keep the door open for a return. Director of Football Jody Brown said Woking had long hoped to bring him back, adding that the move had depended on Ipswich Town.
Brown said Turner had spent pre-season with Ipswich's first team, but the clubs stayed in dialogue and Woking were pleased to secure him for the season. For Woking, that means a player they already know well is back in the building and available for the full campaign.
Putman adds short-term depth
Putman gives Woking a different type of option. The youngster made his Hoops debut in the EFL Cup against Plymouth Argyle in August 2025 and has now moved out on loan to continue his development. He also brings senior experience with Queens Park Rangers and Bath City, which should help him settle quickly.
Putman said that once he spoke to the coaching staff, it felt like the right place for him to keep developing. He also said he hopes to make a positive impact and repay the faith shown by the club.
The two signings give Woking flexibility. Turner can settle into a longer-term role, while Putman fills an immediate need. For a National League South side, that kind of balance can matter quickly, especially when squad depth is tested over a long season.
