Texas Powerball watchers in Southeast Texas have a new jackpot story: a Quick Pick Lotto Texas ticket sold in Angleton hit Monday night’s drawing. The winner chose the $14,303,717.61 cash option before taxes.
That ticket matched 15, 16, 25, 28, 38 and 53 in the Lotto Texas drawing. Courtney Arbour called it “What a night for our newest Lotto Texas jackpot winner” and told players, “If that ticket is sitting on your counter, sign it right away, keep it safe, and consider reaching out to a financial advisor before coming to claim your prize. We can’t wait to celebrate this huge win with you.”
Angleton and the cash option
The winning ticket was sold at Murphy USA 5695 at 1803 N. Velasco St. in Angleton, and the jackpot had reached an estimated $26.75 million as an annuity before the cash choice was selected. The winning amount will be paid before taxes, and the retailer could be eligible for a $25,000 bonus through the Retailer Bonus Program.
The jackpot had been building since April 22, when it started at an advertised $5 million, and rolled through 48 consecutive drawings before Monday night’s hit. There were 42,663 winning Lotto Texas tickets in the same drawing, with prizes ranging from $2 to $14,327.
Claim window for Aug. 10
The winner has 180 days from the Aug. 10 drawing date to claim the prize. That window leaves the ticket holder time to secure the slip, decide whether to claim it personally, and move quickly enough to avoid missing the deadline.
Whether the jackpot winner has been identified or claimed the prize is not answered. The jackpot resets to an estimated $5 million for Wednesday night’s Lotto Texas drawing, and the ticket holder who has not yet come forward may still be carrying a multimillion-dollar payout without knowing it.
