Pokemon Go down reports surged on Friday evening as thousands of players said the game would not open. Many users saw a Network Error 2 message when they tried to launch it.
Down Detector Logs 13,000 Reports
Down Detector showed over 6,000 players reporting problems with the app, then more than 13,000 people reporting issues by 6:20pm EDT. That jump signals a fast-moving outage, not a small cluster of isolated complaints.
Most of the reports pointed to a launch failure. Close to 62% of users said the game failed to launch, while about 23% said they could not log in.
Network Error 2 Hits Launch Attempts
Only about 13% of users reported server issues directly, which complicates the picture for anyone trying to diagnose the problem from the error message alone. The visible symptom was Network Error 2, but the complaint mix suggests the outage was showing up first as an inability to start the game.
A popular Pokémon GO streamer wrote, "Pokemon Go with the painful Network Error ". The same streamer also wrote, "PoryPro will have some out of date timing on rates, because the game has gone down," which captures how quickly live play was being interrupted.
Pokemon GO Players Wait On Fix
The report does not say when the game will be restored. For now, affected players are left with the same practical test: if the app will not launch or login fails, the outage is still hitting the part of the game that has to work first.
