Dr Jitendra Singh led a Tiranga Yatra to the Zero Line along the Indo-Pak International Border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district on Friday, with the rally ending at the zero point in Bobiya village on India Independence Day. He linked the border event to the Border Security Force’s role there and to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of patriotism and nation-building.

Singh said the Border Security Force guards the frontier in war and in peace. He also said the force’s work at the border has a direct bearing on daily life, because people in the area can live and sleep without fear when soldiers remain awake through the night.
At the rally, Singh praised the Border Security Force personnel for their handling of the recent flood situation. He said their role goes beyond border guarding and includes emergency response, relief work and assistance to civilians.

Singh also said, “The BSF plays a critical role in ensuring the country’s security both during war and in times of peace.” He said, “This area has historically faced the challenge of cross-border firing, but people are able to live peacefully and sleep without fear because they know that the soldiers remain awake through the night, guarding the nation’s borders.”
That setting gave the Tiranga Yatra a security backdrop as well as a ceremonial one. The rally reached the Zero Line in a place Singh described as one that has long faced cross-border firing, while the Border Security Force was being praised for both frontier duty and flood response.
Prime Minister Modi vision
Singh said, “the Tiranga Yatra at Bobiya is in keeping with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of bringing the spirit of patriotism to every household and making citizens active participants in the nation-building process.” He also said that after 2014, the Kathua and wider Jammu region entered a new era of development.
He added that the region saw major improvements in connectivity, infrastructure, healthcare, education, industry and other essential sectors over the past decade.
