Kaden Davis is not yet a familiar name to most NFL fans, but he is starting to make one at Bears training camp.
On August 9, Adam Hoge reported that Davis capped practice with a walkoff 34-yard touchdown from Tyson Bagent. It was the latest highlight in what has already been a strong run for the wide receiver during camp.
Davis has been showing up on a busy Bears practice field for several days now. On August 5, Brad Biggs noted a sprawling one-handed catch from Caleb Williams on a corner end zone pass in 7-on-7. A day later, Courtney Cronin reported that Davis hauled in another ball in the corner of the end zone from Case Keenum before getting flagged for punting the ball. Those plays added to the sense that the 27-year-old is making the most of every chance he gets.
Why the Bears are paying attention
The timing matters because the Bears have a strong and crowded wide receiver room. That makes every standout moment meaningful, especially for a player trying to push into the roster conversation during training camp.
Davis signed with the Bears during the offseason after appearing in one game for the Cleveland Browns in 2024 and two games for them in 2025. He is still looking to turn camp flashes into something more durable, but the early signs have been encouraging.
Last season, Jahdae Walker showed how quickly a receiver can change his standing in Chicago. Walker earned a spot on the Bears' 53-man roster and later caught a game-tying touchdown in a 22-16 overtime win against the Green Bay Packers during the regular season. That is the kind of path Davis will be hoping to follow.
What it means for Tyson Bagent and the offense
For Tyson Bagent, the throw to Davis was another positive moment in a practice setting that has featured plenty of movement at receiver. It also came against a Bears secondary that is banged up right now, which adds some context to the reps being available around the field.
Still, camp production matters. Ben Johnson has already pointed to Davis as someone making an impact, saying, “I just think he’s a great role model for all those guys,” and adding that he has affected not just his own room but also special teams and the defense. Kalif Raymond also praised the discipline it takes to keep working that way, calling it “a vet-type mindset.”
Davis has not earned anything official yet. But after another highlight, this one from Tyson Bagent, he has given the Bears more reason to keep watching.
