Ukraine said Russia Ukraine Drone Strikes hit the country overnight, with at least five people killed and air raid alerts still active in Kyiv by morning. Ukraine said its forces shot down three Russian missiles and nearly 100 drones as the exchange spread across several regions.
Moscow and Wildberries
Russia also said the overnight fighting reached inside its own territory. Moscow's mayor said about 600 Ukrainian drones were launched towards the city, and a Wildberries warehouse near Moscow was hit. The governor described the drone attack on Moscow as one of the most massive of recent recent times to hit the city.
The numbers point to a fast-moving air war rather than a single strike. Ukraine said it intercepted nearly 100 drones and three missiles, while Moscow said hundreds of Ukrainian drones were aimed at the capital overnight. In that gap between claims and impact, the damage count becomes the clearest measure of what actually got through.
Rostov and Belgorod
Yury Slyusar said five people died in overnight Ukrainian strikes on the Rostov region, where several buildings were damaged and fires broke out in two forest areas. In the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov said a woman was killed after a bus was struck in the Rakityansky district, and another woman remained in hospital with severe traumatic brain injuries.
In the Moscow region, an 83-year-old was killed in a drone attack on the Ramensky district. That leaves families in Rostov, Belgorod and the Moscow region dealing with separate attacks from the same overnight exchange, while Kyiv faced continuing air raid alerts after the Russian strikes.
Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelensky
Volodymyr Zelensky used the latest strikes to press for more air defence support, saying European interceptors cannot simply be allowed to sit in storage and that lives need to be protected. He also said North Korean ballistic missiles are being used to destroy infrastructure and claim lives here in Europe.
The wider drone campaign has already hit Russian industrial and military targets in mainland Russia, including refineries and warehouses of Wildberries, and has caused more than £35bn in economic damage. The immediate open question is how many of the reported Ukrainian drones reached Moscow before they were intercepted, a figure that would show how much of the overnight wave actually got through.
