Princess Eugenie Jack Brooksbank daughter has a name now: Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Eugenie said the baby arrived earlier this month in Lisbon, Portugal, and that the family has had “the most special, cosy and love-filled time” since then.
She added that the name was chosen to honor three people they love and admire past and present, including her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Adelaide weighed 6lb 9oz at birth, and Eugenie wrote that the baby came into the world two weeks ago today.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank
Princess Eugenie announced the name on Instagram and said, “We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.” She also wrote, “Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home.”
The baby is Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s third child. Their sons are August Philip Hawke Brooksbank and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, and Eugenie wrote, “Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers.”
Buckingham Palace and the line
Buckingham Palace said “Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news” at the time of the birth. Adelaide is not a Royal Highness, even as a royal child.
That same birth also moved her to 15th in line to the throne, ahead of Prince Edward. The announcement gives the child a public identity and fixes her place in the succession at the same time.
Portugal and Ivy Cottage in the
The family lives between Portugal and Ivy Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, and the naming points back to that split life. Princess Eugenie and her family also announced the pregnancy last May with a photograph of her young sons holding a baby scan and the caption, “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!”
With the name now public, the remaining question is the tribute itself: the source does not spell out all three people honored beyond Queen Elizabeth II. What is clear is that Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank is now the family’s newest child and the one who changes the line around her immediately.
