Seven people were arrested after a Wisconsin State Fair fight broke out Sunday evening, Aug. 16, at the fairgrounds on 640 S. 84th Street. The Wisconsin State Fair Park Police Department said the disturbance started when some people tried to gain unauthorized access into the fair and others began fighting on the grounds.

The department said the incident led to unrest throughout the fairgrounds and drew a large police response during the final hours of the 11-day fair. Sunday marked the last day of the 2026 Wisconsin State Fair, which had brought together hundreds of thousands of guests.
No serious injuries were reported. One police officer was struck and had no serious injuries, and the arrests came after videos showed crowds running, shouting and physically fighting in several locations across the fairgrounds.
Milwaukee and West Allis
The Wisconsin State Fair Park Police Department said it continually reviews security plans with its law enforcement partners to help protect guests, vendors, exhibitors and employees. Additional security resources came from the Milwaukee Police Department and West Allis Police Department.
The department said the incidents on Sunday evening were isolated to the final hours of the fair, even as the fair had been described over its 11 days as a gathering that drew hundreds of thousands of guests. The behavior, it said, was unacceptable and not what it expects or will tolerate at the Wisconsin State Fair Park.
For readers who were inside the fairgrounds, the most immediate takeaway is simple: the unrest ended with arrests, a struck officer was not seriously hurt, and the security response was already in place when the final-night disturbance spread.
