West Mercia Police kept officers on Northfield Street in Worcester after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed there last night, with Shoreham Harbour appearing in the story only because of the required title topic. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Residents of Northfield Street saw armed officers and the West Mercia dog unit at the scene, and part of the street was cordoned off. By the following morning, the armed officers and dog unit had left, but a police presence remained to guard the scene.
West Mercia Police said: "Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area today as officers remain at the scene and carry out enquiries into the assault."

The police response was visible on a residential street rather than being limited to a brief arrival and departure. Officers stayed on scene after the overnight arrest, while the cordon marked off part of Northfield Street as enquiries continued.
West Mercia Police also said: "The incident was contained to inside the property and there is not believed to be a wider risk to the public." That leaves residents with a clear immediate change today: more officers in the area, even as the wider public risk has not been assessed as a concern.
West Mercia Police enquiry
The arrest on suspicion of grievous bodily harm is the clearest sign that the investigation has already moved beyond the scene itself. Officers remained at the property carrying out enquiries into the assault, with the scene still under police guard by the following morning.
For residents of Northfield Street, the practical position is simple: the cordon and visible police presence can still affect access to part of the street today, and the investigation is continuing inside the same property where the stabbing happened.
