Taskmaster season 22 starts on Thursday 3 September 2026 at 9pm on Channel 4. The five-comedian run will then go worldwide on the Taskmaster YouTube channel at 10pm BST the same day.
Greg Davies and Alex Horne
Greg Davies returns to host alongside Alex Horne, keeping the show’s core setup intact for a 22nd season. That matters because the cast news is not a reset: the format is coming back with the same central pairing and a fresh line-up already in place.
Earlier this summer, Channel 4 set out the five comedians taking part: Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie, Matt Lucas, Nina Conti and Richard Ayoade. Each name points to a different corner of British comedy, from panel-show regulars to performers with long-running TV credits, which gives the new run more than one audience lane.
Isy Suttie and Peep Show
Isy Suttie is perhaps best known for playing Dobby in Peep Show, the kind of credit that gives the season an immediate shorthand for viewers who know her work from scripted comedy. Matt Lucas brings Little Britain, Come Fly with Me, Shooting Stars, Doctor Who and The Great British Bake Off into the mix, while Richard Ayoade is best known as Maurice Moss in The IT Crowd.
Nina Conti adds a different profile again as an acclaimed ventriloquist and comedian whose double act with Monkey has toured internationally. Chloe Petts has appeared on panel shows such as Have I Got News For You and Hypothetical, so the line-up covers live stand-up, panel rhythm and character-based comedy in one group.
Taskmaster YouTube channel
The scheduling split is the practical detail viewers should keep in view: Channel 4 gets the first broadcast at 9pm, then the Taskmaster YouTube channel carries the worldwide release at 10pm BST on 3 September. For anyone outside the immediate broadcast window, that creates a second, fixed access point rather than a vague later upload.
Channel 4 has also commissioned a pilot of a brand new game show set in the Taskmaster universe, which nudges the franchise beyond season 22 even as the main series returns. The future of the series is treated as secure, but the new pilot is the only expansion explicitly on the table, and it is still just a pilot, not a full series order.
What the new game show will involve is not spelled out, so the clean takeaway is simple: the main show now has a date, a time and a worldwide route back to viewers, while the next piece of universe-building remains at the pilot stage.
