Charlie Foster was arrested at taser-point on the Oxfordshire border after a July 10 Gridlock chase that started when he failed to stop for police in Swindon. The 25-year-old was driving a black Range Rover and led officers on a route that reached more than 70mph.
Police said the chase ended after Foster stopped the car in Coleshill and tried to flee on foot. The arrest followed a pursuit that crossed roads and roundabouts at speed, with officers moving in only once the vehicle had been slowed enough to stop safely.
Swindon to Oxfordshire border
During the pursuit, Foster ran red lights and drove on the wrong side of roads and roundabouts. Police dashcam footage showed the Range Rover hitting a car, weaving through traffic, entering oncoming lanes and narrowly avoiding cars and buses.
The chase moved towards the Oxfordshire border as officers followed the black Range Rover through the area. The route and the speed left little margin for other road users, and the footage captured repeated moments where the vehicle crossed into traffic that was already approaching.
Eastrop roundabout and Coleshill
Cops deployed a stinger device to puncture the Range Rover’s front tyres. As Foster approached Eastrop roundabout, officers saw he was struggling to control the vehicle and hung back rather than close in too early.
That delay mattered because the punctured tyres changed how the car handled, and the vehicle continued only until Foster finally stopped it. Once he got out and tried to run, officers arrested him at taser-point in Coleshill.
The detail that stands out is Foster himself: a 25-year-old in a black Range Rover who pushed the chase across the Oxfordshire border, then tried to run when the car could go no farther. The unresolved point is why he failed to stop for police in Swindon on July 10.
