The first part of UFC Paris 5 at Accor Arena delivered a mixed night for the French fighters, who finished with three victories and three defeats. It was a clear reminder that the home crowd can lift a fighter, but it does not remove the pressure of a difficult matchup.
For some of the French names on the card, there was momentum to build on. For others, the evening brought a fresh setback in front of a large crowd in Paris. The balance of results left the opening phase of the event exactly level, with France splitting the card 3-3.
French wins that kept the crowd engaged
Delphine Benouaich opened one of the brighter chapters for the home side by beating Sofia Montenegro via submission in the second round. Matthieu Duclos followed with a knockout win over Luis Felipe Dias, giving the French crowd another moment to celebrate.
Nora Cornolle also came through with a decision win over Klaudia Sygula. That result carried added weight because it ended two straight losses and restored a positive UFC record for Cornolle.
Defeats that underlined the margins
Not every French fighter was able to ride the atmosphere. Morgan Charrière, one of the French public's longtime favorites, lost to Felipe Lima by unanimous decision in a bout that left him with a third defeat in four UFC fights and a 4-3 record overall.
There was also disappointment for Oumar Sy, who had started strongly before being stopped by Modestas Bukauskas in the second round. Michael Aljarouj completed the evening's French losses when he went down to Fabia Sintes on the judges' scorecards.
That left the opening part of UFC Paris 5 perfectly balanced from a French point of view: three wins, three defeats, and plenty to reflect on after a card that repeatedly tested the home fighters under pressure.
The wider event continues to draw attention, with Dan Hooker vs Salahdine Parnasse headlines Ufc Paris card as UFC returns to Accor Arena. For the French fighters, though, the opening section of the night has already shown that support alone will not be enough — they will need to keep matching that backing with results.
