Brandon Gill took a prominent role at the GOP midterm convention on Wednesday and was given about twice as much speaking time as Ken Paxton. The 32-year-old North Texas congressman used the stage to argue that the choice in November was between “the mainstream versus the extreme.”
Gill said political debates used to focus on “marginal tax rates and government spending,” but that they now center on whether toddlers can become transgender, whether men can get pregnant and whether daughters should share a locker room with grown men. He also said, “Our country will not go back to Democrats' woke insanity.”

Gill represents Flower Mound and was elected in 2024 to Texas’ 26th Congressional District, which includes Cooke County and parts of Denton and Wise counties. Brandon Rottinghaus of the University of Houston said Gill has built his identity around the America First wing rather than the older Texas Republican establishment.
The convention slot put Gill ahead of Paxton in both length and visibility. Organizers gave Gill about twice as much time, a useful measure of how much room a speaker gets to set the tone and repeat a message before the audience moves on to the next voice.
Gill's message on Biden
Gill accused Democrats of allowing millions of undocumented immigrants into the country and blamed Joe Biden for the economy. He also praised the policies of the Trump administration and said, “This November, Americans have a very clear choice.”
His speech included a claim that Democrats want the Christian faith dismantled. The verified record says that claim was false, which leaves the speech with a sharper edge than a standard convention address: it was not just an attack on opponents, but a direct attempt to define the election terms for Republican attendees.
North Texas and Trump
Gill is married to Danielle D’Souza Gill, the daughter of Dinesh D'Souza. Donald Trump pardoned D'Souza in 2018, and Trump also endorsed Gill for reelection last year, saying, “I have known Brandon's family for many years,”
Gill was born on an air force base and raised on a cattle ranch in West Texas, and his father was a veteran of the Gulf War who ran for Congress in 2003. Those details sit behind the convention appearance now: the more time he gets on stage, the more clearly his role inside the Republican Party is being defined in public.
