Ana Navarro Says Pre-Mounjaro Weight Loss Was Like a Baby Hippo

Ana Navarro used The View's 30th anniversary season debut to draw a hard line around her weight loss. On Sept. 8, she said the change was "pre-Mounjaro" and joked, "We've lost the equivalent of a baby hippo on that stage."

Navarro has been on the show since 2013, and the timing made the remark land as more than a throwaway line. It placed her in the same on-air conversation as Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, both of whom have already discussed weight-loss drugs on the program.

Sept. 8 on The View

Navarro's joke came with a number attached to it. She said her routine had helped her lose about 4-5 lbs a month, which gives the audience a better read on the pace of the change than the usual celebrity reveal does.

She had already been open about the mechanics behind that progress. In 2023, she said healthy eating helped her maintain her weight during a July vacation in Greece, and she captioned a video diary with, "There's something to be said for the Mediterranean diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and grilled meats." She also said, "I haven't seen a pancake in a month."

Ozempic and lifestyle change

That earlier explanation complicates the Sept. 8 line in a useful way. Navarro later pushed back on Ozempic speculation after posting memories from Colombia, saying she had been to Rancholapuerta in Mexico with two friends since grade school and adding, "So it's been a complete lifestyle change—except for the damn rosé and margaritas, which I can't give up."

The mix of statements matters because it shows how public weight loss stories now get parsed for method as much as result. Navarro's comments landed inside a show that has already aired similar disclosures from Whoopi Goldberg, who said in March that Mounjaro helped her after she crested 300 pounds in 2021, and Joy Behar, who said in February that a weight-loss drug helped her drop 25 pounds.

GLP-1 talk on The View

August 2026 brought another example of how common that conversation has become across the same orbit, when Chrissy Metz said in an interview with People that she had been skeptical of starting a GLP-1 before deciding to try it. She said the medication helped with inflammation, overall health lab work and blood work, and a feeling that food noise had quieted.

For Navarro, the cleanest read is also the simplest one: she was describing weight loss as the product of a long routine change, not a single injection, and she said so on one of the show's biggest anniversary episodes. The unresolved part is the scale of the total loss; the on-air joke gave a comparison, not the full number.
