Freddie Meredith has joined SNL UK ahead of Series 2, which begins on 12 September on Sky and NOW. The addition arrives just before the first six episodes go out, expanding a cast that is already set for the run.

Meredith’s route to SNL UK
Meredith said he trained at drama school and began working professionally in theatre before moving into stand-up. From there, he started making short sketches online, a path that now feeds directly into a live sketch format built around speed, range, and quick character turns.
He also listed Jamie Demetriou, Tim Key, Tina Fey, Nathan Fielder, Kristen Wiig, Steve Coogan, Steve Carrell and Julia Davis as his comedy heroes. “It’s a no brainer, it’s the most iconic comedy show and it looks like so much fun.”
Series 2 cast expands
The returning SNL UK ensemble includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young. Adding Meredith to that group increases the available pool of performers just as the series heads into its opening stretch.
He said, “It will undoubtedly inform everything I do for the rest of my career and I can’t wait for the experience.” That is a fairly sharp way of saying the show is not only a credit on a resume; for a comic with theatre roots and online sketch work, it gives him a bigger national platform at the point where the new series is being assembled.
First six episodes, then more
SNL UK returns for Series 2 with the first six episodes starting on 12 September, while additional shows are planned in early 2027. The split timetable suggests the run is being handled in phases rather than treated as a single uninterrupted block.
That structure also leaves room for the cast to be tested on screen before the later shows arrive. Meredith summed up the opportunity in three words: “It’s SNL!!!” For viewers, the immediate question is whether his arrival changes the shape of the series; for the production, the move simply adds another working comic to a returning line-up that is already in place.
