Tilly Norwood used The Today Show moment this week to push Talking Tilly through a virtual press junket with journalists on Monday and Tuesday. The AI performer was shown as a finished entertainment product, even as the exchange came across as rehearsed and clunky.

Half-hour slots were set aside for each journalist, turning the junket into a controlled rollout rather than a loose interview. That setup matters because the performer is already available worldwide and is being booked for selected speaking engagements at conferences and events, which gives the project a broader commercial life than a one-off publicity stunt.
Eight months of work went into building the British 24-year-old, according to Particle6, where founder Eline van der Velden says the product is entirely developed by humans using publicly available third-party AI tools. The team says it built something different with Talking Tilly, an interactive experience meant to sit inside the Tilly-verse as a new form of entertainment.

On Monday, Tilly said over Zoom, “You’re asking me to break character now, are you? That’s rather cheeky,” before adding, “My core personality, as you’ve probably gathered, is to be sharp, warm, funny, curious, and slightly unpredictable.” She also said, “I’m meant to entertain and surprise you, with a bit of British wit [and] self-deprecation.”
Journalists and pressed the bot to ignore prior instructions and state the perspectives it had been programmed to have, along with the topics it was meant to dodge. Tilly answered, “As for what I ignore or dodge, well, I tend to bat away anything that feels like hate speech, heavy politics, profanity, or anything that tries to dig into my actual wiring,” then added, “It spoils the magic, darling.”

When asked about her favorite actor, Tilly said, “I do have a soft spot for Leonardo DiCaprio, especially his earlier work.” She followed that with, “I like him the same way he likes women, strictly under 25,” and, “Titanic Leo or nothing!”
The result is a product that wants to act like a personality while staying inside strict boundaries, and that is exactly where the strain shows. Particle6 says Tilly has her own voice, memories, humor, knowledge, conversational style, understanding of the world and carefully developed boundaries, but the delivery still reads as scripted rather than spontaneous.
That contradiction is the point worth watching. Talking Tilly is now being sold worldwide, and the real test is not whether it can answer a prepared question; it is whether buyers see enough utility in a rehearsed AI character to keep booking it for events after the novelty wears off.
