Michael Murray Takes Hugo Boss Chairman Role After Sturm Exit

Michael Murray has taken over as chairman of the Supervisory Board of Hugo Boss after Stephan Sturm resigned from the board. The Supervisory Board elected Murray in its regular meeting yesterday, putting a new name at the top of the company’s oversight structure.

Murray was first elected to the Supervisory Board at the Annual General Meeting on May 15, 2025. He said, "HUGO BOSS is exceptionally well positioned, with two strong brands, a unique global footprint and significant untapped potential."

Sinan Piskin on continuity

Sinan Piskin said, "I am pleased that with Michael Murray we have found an excellent successor for this position" and that "His election signals clarity in the leadership of the Supervisory Board at an important stage for the Company and ensures continuity in our strategic course moving forward, in the interest of all our stakeholders." The board change keeps the company’s supervisory leadership aligned with that long-term course.

Daniel Grieder said, "Michael Murray has consistently supported the strategic direction we have with CLAIM 5 TOUCHDOWN and, together with Frasers Group, shares our view regarding the significant untapped potential of HUGO BOSS." He added, "As the Managing Board, we look forward to further pursuing our course with discipline, focus, and clear commitment."

Robert Palmer joins next

Following Stephan Sturm’s departure, Robert Palmer is expected to join the Supervisory Board subject to appointment by the local court. He has more than four decades of experience in auditing and corporate advisory services and has served as Director of Frasers Group Financial Services Limited since 2022.

The sequence matters because the chair shift is already done, while the board seat tied to Sturm’s departure still depends on the court process. For shareholders and stakeholders, the immediate change is leadership continuity at the top of the Supervisory Board, with the next step centered on Palmer’s entry rather than a wider reset at Hugo Boss.

Murray said, "Together with my colleagues on the Supervisory Board and the Managing Board, I look forward to building on the Company’s strong foundation and supporting the execution of its strategic priorities." He also said, "By ensuring continuity and maintaining a clear long-term perspective, we will focus on unlocking the full potential of HUGO BOSS and creating sustainable value for all shareholders and stakeholders."
