Lauren Hemp reached 100 Women’s Super League goal involvements last weekend, assisting Khadija Shaw in Manchester City’s 4-1 win at Aston Villa. The milestone puts Hemp in a small and impressive group: she is only the seventh player to reach the mark in the WSL.
The split is as balanced as it is revealing. Hemp’s 100 involvements are made up of 52 goals and 48 assists, which underlines why she has long been viewed as more than a winger who simply finishes chances. She has been a scorer, a creator and a constant threat in the final third.
A complete attacking profile
Hemp’s WSL record is built on both output and variety. In 154 appearances, she has delivered the kind of all-round production that keeps her among the league’s most valuable attacking players. That matters because her game is not defined by one narrow skill. She can score, set up others, carry the ball into dangerous areas and stretch defenses with her movement and crossing.
Her end product also gives more context to where she stands in the league’s history. The other players in the WSL 100 club are Vivianne Miedema, Beth Mead, Bethany England, Fran Kirby, Nikita Parris and Lauren James. That is elite company, and Hemp’s place among them reflects consistency as well as talent.
The numbers behind the milestone
The latest milestone fits a longer trend. In 2019-20, Hemp’s 11 chance-ending carries ranked second among all WSL players. Her end product then began to improve from 2021-22 onward, and her attacking influence has stayed broad ever since.
At Euro 2022, Hemp created 13 chances and made 40 attempted crosses, another sign of how much she contributes beyond finishing. At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, she scored against Colombia in the quarter-final and against Australia in the semi-final. Even in 2025, at Euro 2025, she recorded six carries ending in a chance.
That wider body of work matters because the 2024-25 season was injury-hit, and she played only 730 WSL minutes. Even so, Hemp still came back to deliver a milestone moment at Aston Villa. It was a reminder that her value does not depend on one route to goal involvement. She creates them, finishes them and keeps finding ways to shape games for Manchester City and England.
After 154 WSL appearances and 100 goal involvements, Hemp has already built a record that points to longevity, quality and versatility. The next question is not whether she belongs in the league’s most productive group. She does. The question is how much higher that total can climb once she gets a full run of fitness again.
