Trump TV appeared inside The White House app on Monday, after Donald Trump banned, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House. The app was on Apple’s news chart at #11 that afternoon, which put the new promotion in front of a bigger audience than a niche internal feed.
The White House app's pitch
The White House app, which first appeared on Apple’s app store on March 27, came back with a front page built around Trump’s “historic deal with Greenland,” a Truth Social post from Friday, and banners telling users to “grow the economy” and “lead the world in AI.” A button for accomplishments sent the reporter to the White House website, where the presentation leaned hard into messaging rather than reporting.
The app also offered a compilation of social media feeds from the White House’s various accounts and suggested that the reporter should “text President Trump.” That link opened Messenger and created a pre-fabricated message that read: “Greatest President Ever!” The package was less a news hub than a direct channel for official promotion.
Messenger and the survey
At the bottom of the home page, the app added a survey asking whether states that allowed noncitizens to register to vote should face federal funding penalties, with five response options. The app did not offer any insight into the poll’s results, so users were left with a prompt rather than a readout.
The White House website that sat behind the app pushed the same line. It opened with a video of Trump swaying side to side on the stage of the American Business Forum, then moved into a scroll-down menu with deportation statistics and a bullet point claiming that Trump had “ended the Israel-Hamas War.”
TrumpTV on Monday
TrumpTV was advertised as “the essentials station,” which makes the app’s new label sound more like a branded feed than a separate service. The broader effect is blunt: after, MS NOW, and Politico were blocked from the White House, the official app reemerged as the loudest distribution channel in the dispute, and it did so with a front page that looked closer to propaganda than a news offering.
The timing sharpened that split. The app’s latest push came hours after Trump was effectively muted during the unveiling of a new White House helipad because the press pool was not there, so the app now functions as the administration’s preferred workaround when access closes down. What TrumpTV becomes beyond that advertisement is the open question, and Monday’s version offered no answer.
