Jacksepticeye Says Bloodborne Movie Avoids Game Story, Keeps 80% Critics at Bay — Jacksepticeye Bloodborne Movie Producer

Jacksepticeye Bloodborne movie producer status comes with more say than some fans expected. He says the animated Bloodborne movie will not retell the game’s story, and he described his role as helping decide who gets hired and what ideas move forward. That puts the project in a different lane before a release date has even been set.

Jacksepticeye on Bloodborne

80% of the reactions to his involvement were critical, Jacksepticeye said in an interview with 100 Questions with Tom Simmons. He also said, “I wouldn't have let it go in a direction that I don't think is worthy of the Bloodborne IP,” and added, “I'm not trying to be the game.”

He went further and drew a line between adaptation and copy. “I'm not trying to one-up the game, and I'm not trying to compete with it, or tell the same story,” he said. “I'm trying to honor the universe that's there and tell as good a story as I can within it.”

Production Calls at Sony

Jacksepticeye said he has “quite a bit of sway” over the overall production and direction of the film. In his words, people listen to him above most anyone else during calls about the project, and he helps greenlight who gets hired and who the production works with.

“This is a good idea. This is a bad idea. We shouldn't do this,” he said, before describing himself as the gatekeeper in simpler terms: “You don't want to bring on anyone that has no idea what Bloodborne is. In simpler terms, I'm sort of the vibe-checker.” For a game adaptation, that kind of influence can shape whether the film feels like a faithful extension of the IP or a generic title with the right branding.

CinemaCon 2026 Reveal

Sony announced the animated R-rated Bloodborne movie at CinemaCon 2026 in April, and Jacksepticeye later called the opportunity a dream come true and the honor of his life. He is a producer on the project, and the film currently has no release date.

That leaves one open question that matters more than the cast list: what story the movie tells instead of retelling Bloodborne. If Jacksepticeye really has the sway he describes, the adaptation is being built to answer that before any audience does.
