Miquita Oliver is set to host Strictly: Lights Up when the new iPlayer spin-off starts on Sunday 4 October. The launch gives Strictly Come Dancing viewers a separate post-results stream, with reactions that sit outside the main live show.
Abi Clarke and Tyler West
Abi Clarke will co-host the series with Tyler West, and the pairing matters because West already knows the format from inside the competition. In 2022, he reached the later stages of Strictly Come Dancing with Dianne Buswell before his elimination after the Blackpool special.
Sarah James said, “With Strictly's iPlayer audience growing year-on-year, this is the perfect time to announce a range of new exclusives that will bring viewers closer to Strictly than ever before.” She added, “Hosted by the brilliant Abi and Tyler, Lights Up will be a post-results show like no other, taking you straight on to the Strictly dance floor for all of the immediate reaction that previously remained unseen.”
iPlayer extras
The new iPlayer hub goes beyond one extra programme. It will include weekly training room episodes in which Abi visits different Strictly couples in rehearsals, a weekly highlights show to round up the week, and the option to watch every single dance of the series individually.
Each episode of Strictly Come Dancing will also be available to scroll through in chapters for the first time ever. That gives viewers a more granular way to jump between performances, reactions and backstage material without sitting through the full broadcast again.
Sunday results slot
Strictly: Lights Up will stream exclusively immediately after each Sunday results show, starting with the first elimination on 4 October. The is adding more Strictly content online while the main competition still turns on one couple leaving each week, so the new format expands access without changing the centre of the broadcast.
For viewers, the practical change is simple: once the results show ends, iPlayer becomes the place for the extra reaction, rehearsal access and weekly wrap-up. For the, it is a sharper online package around a show that already pulls audience attention across the weekend.
