Honda said the 2027 Honda Civic Type R will begin arriving at dealerships this month, carrying a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $48,695. The refreshed model adds heated front seats, more standard technology and revised performance hardware.
Honda says the car still makes 315 horsepower and remains the most powerful Honda production vehicle sold in the U.S. It is also the only car in its class sold exclusively with a manual transmission.

Luis Guerra, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., said, "The legendary Civic Type R has embodied the Honda challenging spirit for three decades, leveraging our deep roots in motorsports with racetrack-proven engineering that maximizes performance without sacrificing Type R's civilized road manners". He added, "The refreshed 2027 Civic Type R honors that legacy by enhancing comfort, technology and style without compromising the exhilarating driving experience that has defined the Civic Type R for six generations."
The update ties the model to the 30th anniversary of Civic Type R, which debuted in Japan as a 1997 model. Honda is using that milestone to pair comfort features with the car's track-focused setup, a combination that is not typical for a performance car sold with this transmission arrangement.
Honda Civic Type R changes
The front sport seats are heated for the first time. Honda also gave the car a more aggressive front fascia, a deeper front splitter and a larger grille opening to improve airflow and engine cooling.
Inside the car, the Rev Match system now delivers faster engine response for smoother downshifts. Honda also says optimized suspension damping in +R mode improves road-following performance and reduces bouncing and impact harshness, while a yoke spring added to the brake pedal reduces play in the link and improves brake feel.
Anna Engine Plant in Ohio
The turbocharged K20C engine continues to be made at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio using domestic and globally made parts. The 2027 model is offered in four exterior colors, including new Meteorite Gray Metallic, along with Boost Blue Pearl, Sonic Gray Pearl and Championship White.
Buyers of the Civic Type R can now order a car that is still centered on performance but adds more comfort and equipment at the same time. For shoppers, the practical next step is to look for dealership arrivals this month and choose among the four available colors before stock is spoken for.
