David Tennant leads the new drama Time series three, which starts on Sunday 11 October. The has released a first-look trailer and new artwork ahead of the launch, giving viewers a first look at where the story goes next.
The run is a 3x60 format, with episode one landing on iPlayer at 6am on Sunday 11 October and on One at 9pm the same day. Episode two follows on Monday 12 October, with episode three airing on Sunday 18 October.
David Tennant and Siobhan Finneran
Tennant appears as Custodial Manager Bobby Bailey, alongside Daniel Ryan as Freddie Jennings. Siobhan Finneran returns as Prison Chaplain Marie-Louise, while Louis McCartney, Ollie McNulty and Chukwubuikem Molokwu appear as James, Peter and Christopher.
That cast mix keeps the series squarely in the same pressure-cooker space that made Time a BAFTA-winning drama. Jimmy McGovern and Samuel Bailey write the new series, with Paul Whittington directing and Amanda Black producing.
Prison Chaplain Marie-Louise
Marie-Louise comes to the YOI having lost her faith, while Bobby Bailey is in the middle of his own crisis. That clash gives the trailer its edge: one character is arriving stripped of certainty, while another is already under strain inside the same system.
The setup is lean, and that helps. A 3x60 drama does not have room for drift, so the story has to keep pressure on the characters from the first hour and keep turning through the second and third instalments.
Belfast and iPlayer
Time series three was filmed in Belfast, and the first two series are available now on iPlayer. For viewers, the practical takeaway is simple: the new run begins on Sunday 11 October, opens on iPlayer at 6am, and reaches One at 9pm the same day.
The trailer does not answer the bigger trigger behind the prison clashes and the guilt it hints at. That missing piece is the hook now, and the launch date means the series will not keep audiences waiting long for it.
