Xbox Disc To Digital Adds SEGA Games and Auto Licenses

Xbox disc to digital now grants a digital license automatically when a supported disc goes into an Xbox One or Series X console. That removes the menu step from the process and lets players keep using the game without the disc after the license appears. Select SEGA games are now appearing in the program.

Persona 5 Royal on Xbox disc to digital

Persona 5 Royal is already one of the SEGA titles in the program. If all SEGA games work the same way, the list could grow by 44 games. That scale matters because the feature is no longer a one-off test case.

Automatic entitlement on Xbox One

The service now shows a full-screen explanation only the first time a player gets a digital entitlement. After that, it switches to a simple toast notification. The user experience is now closer to a normal system prompt than a separate setup flow.

Play Anywhere titles can also unlock access on other platforms. cloud gaming can also be part of the same entitlement path. That makes the license itself the key asset, not the disc sitting in the drive.

Ubisoft before SEGA

Ubisoft joined the program before SEGA. The feature had been in testing for insiders for about a month before this broader availability. The shift from testing to general use is the main change for disc owners who want digital access without re-buying the game.

The unresolved piece is which other SEGA games will join next. For now, the practical rule is simple: only participating discs on Xbox One or Series X trigger the automatic license, and supported titles are the only ones that convert physical ownership into digital access.
