Superintendent John Robidoux announced that Marblehead High School senior Owen Coyne has died. The announcement linked Owen Coyne Marblehead to counseling support at the school and the cancellation of the Magicians’ Saturday game against Danvers.
Robidoux shared a message from Coyne’s parents, Angela Paradise and Brian Coyne, and siblings Grady, Landon and Ella. The family wrote, “It is with broken hearts and unimaginable sadness that we share that our beloved Owen has passed away,” and said he was “a child, a brother, a captain, a teammate, a friend, and a young man who is so deeply loved by so many.”
Marblehead High School response
Robidoux said counseling support was available at the high school Friday until 7 p.m. and again Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. He said the support would continue during the school day for students and staff who wanted to use it.
That schedule gave students, staff, and families a direct place to go after the announcement. It also tied the response to the school day itself, rather than leaving support limited to one evening or one weekend window.

The family’s message described Owen as someone who brought “joy, laughter, and light into the lives of those who knew him,” and said the impact he made would remain “with us forever.” They also asked the community to keep him close in their hearts and to surround his friends and classmates with the same love and compassion shown to the family.
Robidoux added, “This is a sad day for our Marblehead community, and we ask that you send positive thoughts and prayers to the Coyne family and Owen’s friends during this difficult time.”
Danvers game canceled
The immediate school impact also reached athletics. The Magicians’ Saturday game against Danvers was canceled after the announcement.
One detail the school did not address in the announcement was how Owen died. What it did set out clearly was the response: support at Marblehead High School, a canceled game, and a commitment to share further information with the community as appropriate.
