Magic: The Gathering will add God pack MTG inserts to Booster Packs starting with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, the first Magic set of 2027. The change gives players a new chase outcome in sealed product: 1 in every 1,000 Booster Packs will contain 14 rare or mythic rare cards.
That same update also puts God Packs in Collector Boosters at a rate of 1 in every 300. At the same time, Booster Packs will no longer guarantee a foil card, and any foil that does appear will be a rare or mythic rare card.
Nauctis: The Sunken Realm
The new structure begins with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm and then continues with each Magic Multiverse set going forward. Magic: The Gathering said the goal is to make booster openings more exciting without increasing the MSRP, so the added chase cards arrive alongside cuts elsewhere in the pack.
Play Boosters are now just called Booster Packs. In that same change, foil common and uncommon cards are being removed from Booster Packs, which narrows the foil slot to higher-rarity cards when a foil appears.
Collector Boosters
Collector Boosters also get their own God Pack version, but the rate is lower at 1 in every 300. The company also said Collector Boosters will remove two commons and one uncommon from the foil slot, shifting more of the pack toward rarer inserts rather than lower-rarity foil cards.
For players opening sealed product, the practical change is simple: the chase gets sharper, and the expected contents get more concentrated at the top end. The unanswered piece is the exact card-by-card breakdown inside the 14-card God Pack and the Collector Booster version, which will determine how those rare hits are distributed inside each pack type.
