Susie Wiles Cellphone Tracked in Fbi Show Documents, White House Releases 2023 Logs

The White House released FBI show documents Monday that track Susie Wiles’ cellphone from February to May 2023 and record surveillance of Melania Trump and Barron Trump during Jack Smith’s Mar-a-Lago documents probe. The records show the bureau was watching calls tied to Donald Trump while the investigation was still active.

The logs say Wiles’ phone was monitored for communications with nearly two dozen lawyers connected with Donald Trump, along with campaign aides, political advisers and some journalists. One May 19, 2023 entry said, “2:05 pm The FPOTUS Vanity Number called WILES for 16 minutes and 11 seconds.”

Plasmic Echo and Mar-a-Lago

The surveillance took place under Joe Biden’s administration inside a secret probe titled Plasmic Echo. The FBI tracked Melania Trump and Barron Trump’s travel while it was planning the best time to search Donald Trump’s Palm Beach home, and one late May 2022 item said, “Finalize FBI understanding of FPOTUS/FLOTUS/minor son’s travel (type of aircraft and specifictimeline).”

Another document said search warrants would be served after Donald Trump departed Mar-a-Lago. An email exchange between FBI agents in late May 2022 also outlined steps to finalize the search warrant and coordinate with the Southern District of Florida US Attorney’s Office.

Garland and Wray memo

Christopher Wray sent Merrick Garland a memo in May 2022 warning that the investigation could be disruptive to the democratic process if publicly disclosed before an election. Garland signed off on the wiretaps on Wray’s advice, and Wray wrote, “Merrick, I recomend you approve. CW.”

A month before the August 8, 2022 raid, an unnamed special agent raised concerns that the bureau did not have legal authority to raid Donald Trump’s office or bedroom. The FBI later searched his office and both of the first couple’s bedrooms during the August 8, 2022 raid.

Wiles phone logs

The Wiles records reach into the period when she was running Trump’s political operation as he prepared for the 2024 election. The documents identify Kash Patel as an exception to the redactions because he was out of government service at the time, and they show the bureau was still tracking contacts around Trump months after the raid.

For Wiles, the new files put a precise timeline on what the bureau was watching: her cellphone, her calls, and the people around Trump between February and May 2023. The open question is the legal basis used for the wiretaps and the cellphone tracking described in the released documents.
