Michael Weatherly returns in NCIS episode 1, giving the franchise a cast update that is clear on the name involved but not on the mechanics of the appearance. The source title points to the return itself; it does not spell out when he appears or what capacity he plays.
See Michael Weatherly Returns in NCIS
The only specific fact available is in the title: See Michael Weatherly Returns in NCIS. That is enough to establish the news value for viewers tracking cast movement in TV, because the return centers on a named actor already tied to NCIS.
For readers watching the show for cast changes, the practical takeaway is simple. Michael Weatherly is back in the NCIS orbit, but the extractable material stops short of episode placement, role detail, or any sequence that would locate the appearance within the season.
Michael Weatherly and NCIS
Michael Weatherly and NCIS remain the two fixed points in the story, and the source keeps everything else off the record. The absence of episode specifics means this functions as a return notice rather than a full rollout of how the appearance fits into the season.
That leaves the central question unresolved for viewers who want to plan around the comeback: when does Michael Weatherly return in NCIS, and in what capacity? Until that detail is supplied, the only solid read is that the franchise has put his name back in play, which is enough to move attention back to NCIS episode 1.
