Kym Marsh helped put liberty x back in the frame by teasing a Hear'Say reunion 25 years after the group formed on Popstars. The post points toward possible live activity, but no dates or ticket details have been announced, and the lineup question is still open.
Whisper in the WhatsApp
The new hearsayuk account posted the clue with the caption “25 years later…”, then dropped a WhatsApp-style group chat in which Noel Sullivan asked, “Fancy getting the band back together?” It is the sort of prompt that turns a nostalgia post into a live business question: sign-up interest exists, but there is no sale page yet.
Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, Noel Sullivan and Danny Foster also posted clips marking 25 years since the final show of Hear’Say Live at Manchester Arena. Marsh said they played the last show of their sell out arena tour there 25 years ago today, that the show was live on Sky, and that it was Suzanne Shaw’s 20th birthday.
Pure And Simple numbers
In 2001, the original five-piece lineup of Kym Marsh, Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw, Danny Foster and Noel Sullivan arrived with Pure And Simple, which sold 550,000 copies in its first week and spent three weeks at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. The single ended 2001 as the UK’s second best-selling single, behind Shaggy and RikRok’s It Wasn’t Me, and it went on to become a UK million-selling single.
The album Popstars sold 306,600 copies in its opening week, reached Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart and stayed there for two weeks. Hear’Say then added The Way To Your Love as a second Number 1 single in July 2001, while Everybody reached Number 4 in December 2001 and the album Everybody peaked at Number 24. Four Top 10 singles in one year is the kind of track record that still gives any reunion teaser commercial weight.
Which members would return
January 2002 brought the first break in that run, when Kym Marsh left Hear’Say and Johnny Shentall replaced her the following month before the revised lineup released Lovin’ Is Easy in August 2002, which reached Number 6. That is the complication in this tease: the group is pointing at a comeback, but it has not yet been made clear which members would take part in any future Hear’Say activity.
For anyone watching this closely, the useful move is simple: sign up for the news trail, because the tease is real but the ticketing window is not. The next step now sits with Hear’Say, and the question is whether the return, if it happens, involves the full original lineup or something smaller.
