Guillermo Rodriguez DWTS elimination arrived on Oct. 13, when he and Witney Carson were sent home from Dancing With the Stars after posting the week's lowest score, 22. The exit closed out their run in Dancing With the Stars season 35 after the Super Bowl-themed episode.
22 Points on Oct. 13
Rodriguez and Carson earned that 22 after dancing the salsa to Bad Bunny's Tití Me Preguntó. In a competition built on weekly scoring, the lowest total usually leaves a couple needing either stronger marks or enough support to stay afloat; this time, neither was enough for them.
Rodriguez later said the ballroom run had been worth it anyway: 'It was amazing. It was a great experience.' He also said, 'It was fantastic,' even while acknowledging the difficulty of the routine with, 'I thought it was gonna be hard, but it was too hard.'
Ezra French and Connor Wood
After the elimination, Rodriguez pointed to the relationships he built with fellow contestants Ezra French and Connor Wood. 'It's a competition, but they're good people,' he said. 'We became friends and everything. We changed numbers.' His next stop was practical, not ceremonial: 'I'm gonna go to lunch with Ezra, with Connor,' and 'We might go to a game on Saturday to see the Kings.'
Witney Carson at 20 Weeks
Carson's role in the season carried a second layer. She said, 'I never thought in a million years I would be competing on Dancing with the Stars 20 weeks pregnant, but Guillermo made it possible for me to do that,' and added that it was 'empowering to see what my body could do each week.' That makes the elimination more than a routine cut; it ends a pairing that was operating under a physical load Rodriguez did not have to manage alone.
Rodriguez also drew a line under the experience with a blunt defense of his partner: 'She's the best. Women can do anything they want.' The result is straightforward for viewers of Dancing With the Stars season 35: Rodriguez's run is over, Carson's weekly competition streak ends with him, and the scoreboard, not sentiment, decided who stayed in the field.
